1.Teacher Autonomy in Practice: Insights from Government School Educators in NorthEast Delhi
Dr. Madhvi Agrawal
Abstract
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 identifies ‘Rational thought and Autonomy’ as one of the five foundational aims of education to fulfil its overarching vision and goals. This study investigates the current state of teacher autonomy among educators in government schools across Delhi. The target population comprised primary, secondary, and senior secondary teachers working in these institutions. A randomly selected sample of 75 teachers—including PGTs, TGTs, and primary teachers from North-East Delhi—participated in the study. Data was collected through a structured four-point Likert scale questionnaire, focusing on four key dimensions: Curriculum and Lesson Planning, Teaching Methods and Strategies, Assessment and Evaluation, and Classroom Environment and Management. Quantitative analysis was employed to interpret the findings. Results indicate that while teachers experience a moderate degree of autonomy in selecting teaching methods and instructional strategies, significant limitations persist in areas such as curriculum decision-making, assessment practices, and resource allocation. These findings point to the need for systemic reforms to strengthen operational autonomy and provide holistic support for teacher empowerment. The study also recommends future research incorporating private school teachers to enable comparative insights and broaden the understanding of teacher autonomy in diverse educational settings

4.Indian Knowledge System: A panacea for the contemporary issues
Mrs. Ambrin Abid, Dr. Monawwar Jahan
Abstract
The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is an inclusive and comprehensive reservoir that integrates various aspects of human life, including mind, body, and spirit. One of its key features is its interwoven and interdependent links to various facets of knowledge, including mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, medicine, architecture, literature, art, and yoga. The rich heritage of ancient & eternal Indian Knowledge and thought has produced a pool of scholars and philosophers, such as Aryabhata in mathematics, Charaka in medical science, Chanakya in politics, Kalidas in Literature, and so on, who have made seminal contributions to world knowledge. Integrating the Indian knowledge system with modern science and technology, the duo has the potential to deal with many of the world’s contemporary issues, like environmental sustainability, climate change, healthcare, social equity, economic prosperity, educational reform, etc. The indigenous practices promote environmental sustainability, yoga and meditation deal with physical and mental stress, traditional art and skills promote sustainable livelihoods, and education based on Indian knowledge systems nurtures ethical leadership and empathy.
As we are heading towards the Viksit Bharat@2047, there is a pressing need to introduce young people to Indian knowledge systems that not only foster pride in one’s cultural heritage but also equip them with invaluable insights in dealing with contemporary challenges and making them socially, economically, and politically developed citizens. The NEP 2020 has also recognized the importance of ancient wisdom as the guiding principle for education. Our young generation must understand that the fusion of ancient and modern knowledge is the key to a healthy, successful, and prosperous future.

7. Fostering Ethical Awareness and Responsible AI Use among School Students

Professor & Head Department of Education Periyar University, Salem-11
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has started to play a major role in education today, and it has changed the ways of learning for students, instructions from teachers, and institutions in evaluating the outcome of learning. In India, the trend of AI-based tools in the form of personalized learning systems, automated grading platforms, etc. has made it easier, more efficient, and more adaptable for the whole world of learning to belong everywhere. Yet, at the same time, these improvements pose serious questions about ethics, fairness, and learners’ freedom of choice. Many students resort to AI tools without getting a complete grasp on how they work or the implications of data gathering and algorithmic decision-making (Selwyn, 2019; Williamson & Eynon, 2020).
The article discusses the moral and pedagogical issues associated with the use of AI in the school system. It suggests a way to overcome them by making young students aware of and engaged in discussions on ethics. The proposal is built on five themes that are interlinked: digital awareness and AI comprehension, social justice and inclusion, personal growth of the learner through autonomy and critical thinking, caring for others and oneself emotionally and socially, and teachers’ support and ethical role modelling. These five themes, along with their interconnections, provide an avenue for the tutorial generation of responsible, critically minded, and ethically aware digital citizens (Touretzky et al., 2019; Holmes et al., 2021).
Through the study, one is also provided with pedagogical implications and suggestions for the integration of AI ethics into school curricula. Some of the important steps to be taken include cross-subject AI ethics embedding, uninterrupted teacher training, creating opportunities for hands-on and project learning, and putting in place monitoring systems for responsible AI use. In line with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the paper claims that the teaching of ethical AI is an absolute requirement for the preparation of students not only as skilled technology users but also as astute, socially responsible beings. Schools can, by fostering critical thinking, justice, and compassion, develop an educational environment that cherishes both tech advancement and human values through the AI era.

Abstract
Uttarakhand, the state popularly known as Dev Bhoomi has a multiethnic population spread across two geo-cultural regions: Garhwal and Kumaon. The state is said to be the home of five tribal communities namely Bhotiyas, Buksas, Jaunsaris, Rajis, and Tharus, which were enlisted in the scheduled tribes by the Indian constitution back in 1967. As per government records, the maximum tribal population resides in the state’s rural areas whereas a few of them are settled in urban areas. This community constitutes nearly 2.9% of the states total population with a literacy rate of 73.9% as per census 2011. The residential areas of the tribal groups make them ethnically very rich but in terms of literacy they come across many challenges to gain quality education. Despite many constitutional and legal safeguards provided by the government, the community still faces many struggles in their day-to-day life which prohibits them from connecting with the mainstream areas of life, especially education. Thus, this paper brings to the forefront various obstacles in the path of accessing quality education by the scheduled tribes of Uttarakhand. It also highlights the government policies and framework for the betterment of the tribal students of the state. Considering the importance of tribal education, the paper also outlines a few recommendations which can help in providing quality education to the marginalized section of the society.

19. Role of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Programs in Shaping Secondary Students’ Educational Aspiration and Self-concept
Dr. Sangita Saxena, Smt. Savita Yadav
ABSTRACT
Educational aspiration and self-concept are critical determinants of academic achievement and lifelong learning. Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programs play a foundational role in nurturing these traits by providing structured learning experiences, fostering cognitive and socio- emotional development, and promoting self-confidence in children. Recognizing the long-term impact of early education, this study examines how ECCE interventions influence secondary students’ educational aspirations and self-concept by analyzing existing research, reports, and scholarly data. Through a comprehensive review of secondary sources, including government reports, academic journals, policy documents, and international education studies, this paper investigates the interplay between early learning experiences, family environment, and teacher preparedness in shaping students’ motivation, goal-setting behavior, and self-perception. The study also evaluates the role of Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP) in equipping educators with pedagogical strategies that enhance the effectiveness of ECCE initiatives.
By synthesizing evidence from multiple sources, the research identifies patterns, correlations, and insights that highlight the significance of continuity between early childhood education and secondary-level academic outcomes. The findings emphasize that well-structured ECCE programs, supported by qualified teachers and nurturing family environments, significantly contribute to the development of students’ self-concept and their aspirations for higher education. This paper aims to inform policymakers, curriculum developers, and educators about the value of evidence-based early education strategies, providing a framework for improving educational outcomes and fostering holistic development in children.

22 . Rewriting the Anthropocene: Postcolonial Ecocritical Perspectives in Kiran Desai’s, The Inheritance of Loss
Dr. Sanjay Kumar
Kiran Desai’s The Inheritance of Loss (2006), set against the backdrop of the Gorkhaland movement in 1980s Kalimpong and the immigrant underbelly of New York, offers a profound rewriting of the Anthropocene through postcolonial ecocritical lenses. The novel intertwines human migrations, cultural dislocations, and environmental degradations, portraying the Anthropocene not as a universal epoch but as a colonial legacy exacerbating inequalities in the Global South. Characters like Sai, the orphaned granddaughter of a retired judge, and Biju, an undocumented immigrant, navigate fractured landscapes where colonial histories erode both cultural identities and natural ecologies. Desai critiques how globalisation accelerates ecological loss deforestation in the Himalayas, urban waste in Manhattan-while hybridising human-nature relations in postcolonial spaces. Employing Rob Nixon’s “slow violence” and Dipesh Chakrabarty’s provincialising of the Anthropocene, this paper analyses how Desai subverts Western ecocriticism by centring subaltern perspectives: the judge’s Anglophilia masks environmental alienation, while Gyan’s insurgency reveals eco-political resistance. Quotations such as “The present changes the past. Looking back, you do not find what you left behind” (Desai, 2006, p. 210) underscore temporal dislocations in the Anthropocene. This study contributes to postcolonial ecocriticism by highlighting Desai’s narrative as a manifesto for decolonising environmental discourse, urging recognition of uneven ecological burdens in a warming world. In the context of 2025’s climate crises, the novel’s insights foster equitable eco-futures.

24 . Caste Discrimination in Higher Educational Institutions of Uttar Pradesh
Apurva Srivastava, Murlidhar Markandey, Prof.(Dr.) Nagendra Kumar
This study examines the persistence and manifestations of caste-based discrimination in higher educational institutions of Uttar Pradesh, India. Drawing on recent scholarly works, it explores how caste hierarchies continue to shape student experiences, faculty relations, and institutional policies despite legal safeguards for equality. The paper identifies multiple forms of everyday discrimination, including pedagogical bias, social exclusion, and institutional neglect, that contribute to the academic and psychological marginalisation of students from the Scheduled Castes and Other Backwards Classes. Structural inequalities are further compounded by the weak implementation of grievance redressal mechanisms and the under-representation of marginalised groups in faculty positions. Additionally, the intersection of caste with communal politics intensifies divisions within campus environments, eroding the secular and inclusive ethos of higher education. The study concludes that meaningful inclusion demands comprehensive institutional reform emphasizing inclusive pedagogy, faculty sensitization, transparent governance, and integration of Ambedkarite values of social justice. By addressing both structural and cultural barriers, universities in Uttar Pradesh can move towards creating an equitable and socially cohesive academic environment.

25 . Effect of Climate Change on Distribution and Life Cycle of Fish Trematode Parasites
Shailesh Kumar Rai, Prof. S. Z. Ali, Dr. K.D.P. Singh
Climate change is increasingly recognized as a key driver of ecological shifts in freshwater
ecosystems, influencing host–parasite dynamics and disease transmission patterns. This study
examined the effect of climate variability on the distribution and life cycle of digenetic
trematodes infecting freshwater fishes in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India. A total of 648 fish
specimens belonging to Channa punctata, Clarias batrachus, and Heteropneustesfossilis were
collected seasonally from six ecologically diverse sites. Prevalence, mean intensity, and
abundance of trematode infections were calculated, while environmental parameters such as
temperature, rainfall, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and snail density were simultaneously
monitored. Results revealed a significant seasonal pattern, with infection prevalence peaking
during monsoon (71.8%) and declining to 43.6% in pre-monsoon. Statistical analysis
demonstrated strong correlations between parasite prevalence and climatic variables,
particularly rainfall (r = 0.81, p < 0.01) and snail density (r = 0.86, p < 0.001). Infected fishes
exhibited reduced condition factors, suggesting sub-lethal impacts on host growth and health.
Molecular identification using ITS1 and COI markers confirmed the presence of
Clinostomumcomplanatum, Allocreadiumhandiai, and Opisthorchis sp., with phylogenetic
clustering supporting host-associated haplotypes. The findings highlight that climate change
alters trematode transmission cycles, posing ecological, fisheries, and public health concerns.
Keywords: Climate change, digenetic trematodes, freshwater fishes, parasite prevalence, snail
hosts, monsoon variability, molecular identification, phylogenetics.
