Reviving the Forgotten: The Contribution of Unsung Women Vedic Scholars in the Light of NEP 2020 – Chhavi, Dr. Repudi Vijayalatha

Abstract

The current research paper seeks to identify ancient Indian women intellectuals who have gone unnoticed. As stated in NEP 2020, the Indian education system. produced outstanding scholars who had a significant impact on the globe through their work. It is critical that we recognize them, nurture them, maintain their heritage, and transmit their knowledge to future generations. It is imperative to rectify the historical biases and sociocultural resistance encountered by women, which have led to a deficiency in their contributions to the field of education. This study is a modest attempt to illuminate the significant contributions of women scholars that have been largely unnoticed. This research is theoretical in nature, and data has been gathered from both primary and secondary sources. Though there were many women scholars who contributed a lot, only a few scholars like Gargi and Matreiyi were discussed. The present research paper is an attempt to examine the unsung Vedic scholars like Sulabha, Jabala, and Ubhaya Bharti. These three women scholars, with their contributions, removed gender obstacles in educational access while advocating for logical argumentation, honesty, and the integration of diverse fields within the Indian knowledge system. NEP 2020 emphasizes the revitalization of the Indian Knowledge System; thus, it is essential to include unsung women scholars to foster gender inclusivity, resulting in authentic representation of both genders in the educational curriculum and being a role model to future generations.
